Flow of charges
Repair work will not begin until I have provided an cost estimate, and you have approved the estimate.
The device will first undergo an initial appraisal, which incurs a fee of $35.00* to assess whether the device is economically viable for repair (e.g., if a voltage spike has caused irreparable damage to the board). If the device is deemed uneconomical to repair, you will only be charged the $35 appraisal fee, plus shipping and insurance to return the device. We also offer a free e-waste recycling service if you choose not to have the damaged device returned. However, the $35 appraisal fee will still apply. If the repair cost changes after the initial appraisal, you will be informed of the updated cost estimate. Should you wish to proceed, we will continue with the repair upon your approval of the additional charges.
If the device offered for repair shows no serious or major obvious damage, a repair attempt fee between $39 and $120* will apply. If the repair attempt is unsuccessful, you will be charged the repair attempt fee, plus shipping and insurance to return the device. The fee will depend on the time spent on the repair, the consumables used, and the parts installed. We offer a free e-waste recycling service if you choose not to have the device returned, but the repair attempt fee will still apply.
If the device was repaired as outlined in the cost estimate but does not power on, I will continue diagnosing to identify further repairs needed. I will contact you by email for approval to proceed with additional repairs. You can then choose to accept or decline the additional cost. For repairs to continue, I will require your email approval.
If the repair is successful and the device operates normally, I will invoice you for the original cost estimate, any additional repairs or parts (if applicable), and shipping and insurance fees.
*Fees are calculated on the time spent with the disassembly/assembly, diagnosing, repair attempt and final testing on the device, including parts used for the repair, minimum charges will apply.
*All estimates are subject to additional repair or component charges which is not allowed for in the original estimate due to any unknown device damage while being repaired.
